What Do We Mean by “Prophetic” and “Apostolic”?

I use the term “prophetic” in a very general way to include anything that relates to prophets and hearing the voice of God. This includes, God speaking through Prophets, directly to His children by the Holy Spirit, or through the gifts of the Spirit named in I Corinthians 12. We believe that God still speaks today through the Holy Spirit to the believer’s heart as He guides us into all truth and helps us to walk in victory. Naturally, any prophetic sensing or prophecy has to be judged by principles of the Bible, the Written Word of God.

I use the term “Apostolic” as anything that relates to apostles or the ministry of apostles. This includes church establishing, governing, leading and bringing order according to the Father heart of God. The Church is founded upon the ministries of the apostles and the prophets (Eph. 2:20). The foundation is not removed, but is still active and functioning in the church today along with all the five-fold ministry gifts given to the Church by Jesus Christ and named in Ephesians 4:11.

By using the word “Apostolic” I am not referring to any doctrine relating to the controversy of the Trinity vs. Oneness
